Getting Involved
We know the joy and fulfillment that come from serving those in our community, including our family here at BBC. Support the church by signing up to join a team. You’ll surely find a place to use your unique gifts, grow personally, and connect with others in the church. If you want to serve with us, explore the list of teams below.
Learning and Spiritual Growth
The Learning and Spiritual Growth Team is responsible for organizing the Sunday School and nursery for youngsters and the Adult Study group for those who are not so young. We offer a free Vacation Church School, funding it with our annual Cabaret. In June we provide a Church Family picnic and in December, with the help of the Hospitality Team, we serve up a Church Family Christmas dinner and programme. We also organize a Book and Bake sale to offset Study group, Library and Vacation Church School costs.
Property and Finance
The Property & Finance Team consisting of six members of the congregation is responsible to administer all matters relating to the physical property and financial affairs of the church, in conjunction with a church community who willingly volunteer their time and financial resources in support of a safe and comfortable environment for all who use our facility. Responsibilities include: coordinate and prepare an annual church budget; appoint an Envelope Steward and Teller committee to report and record all donations and issue tax receipts as appropriate; coordinate purchases, sales, and rentals; maintain property, equipment and furnishings, ensure liability and safety measures are in place.
Worship and Pastoral Care
The Worship and Pastoral Care is a team of BBC members who support the minister and the director of music. The team is responsible for meeting the requirements of Sunday morning worship services, such as communion, ushers, sound and streaming, and decor. The WPC team also provides pastoral care, prayer and visitation.
Congregational Care and Outreach
The Congregational Care and Outreach Team (CCOT) supports members of the congregation through a variety of ways; these activities include ‘Welcome Associates’ and ‘Greeters’ on Sunday mornings, special luncheons for newcomers and those who are over 85 years of age, social events for the church family and a church photo directory at 5 year intervals. CCOT also supports initiatives within our community, including ‘Circle of Friends’ for isolated Seniors, St. Luke’s Community Lunch and Wellington Square’s Friday Night Community Supper for those in need in our community. Our ‘Tree of Hope’ campaign that supports those with mental health challenges. Furthermore, CCOT organizes an annual fundraiser to support the mission work of Canadian Baptist Ministries. A recent initiative was our “Grow Hope” campaign. It raised money in association with “Canadian Foodgrains Bank, a Christian Response to Hunger” to provide food aid, relief and development worldwide. Thankfully, we were able to far exceed our goal!
